Seattle weather: Lowland wind and rain with mountain freezing rain

It was a soggy day for western Washington as an atmospheric river brought steady rainfall and mountain snow earlier in the day. As of 9 p.m. this evening, rainfall totals were over two inches along the coast and almost an inch for SeaTac Airport. A new daily record for Hoquiam and Olympia.

Tonight, we are looking at more rain, wind and freezing rain in our mountain passes. A cold front will move through this evening, increasing winds overnight.

Temperatures this evening have also skyrocketed into the 50s! These temperatures have increased due to southern winds and mild conditions from the atmospheric river.

Winds will peak tonight as our cold front moves through, increasing winds to 50-60 mph across western Washington. A Wind Advisory and High Wind Warning remains in effect through early Wednesday morning.

We are looking at a Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning for the passes through early Wednesday due to possibly dangerous conditions. We saw the heaviest snowfall earlier today, but this evening we have seen a transition from snow to freezing rain to rain and drier skies. Still watch for slick spots into Wednesday morning.

We are looking at a Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning for the passes through early Wednesday due to possibly dangerous conditions. 

Showers will be around in the early morning, but skies will dry out with afternoon sunbreaks and highs in the mid to low 50s.
