WSDOT: Semi crash causes miles-long backup on northbound I-5 in SeaTac

A semi-truck crash caused a miles-long backup Wednesday morning on I-5 in SeaTac.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said the backups happened in the northbound lanes of I-5, just north of State Route 516 before 6 a.m.

At about 6:20, WSDOT said the backup was about 6 miles long.

Transportation officials said a semi crashed into a guardrail and the semi was removed from the scene.

Crews had to close two right lanes for repairs and about 400 feet of guardrail was damaged from the crash.
