Tacoma liquor store targeted multiple times by teen thieves
TACOMA, Wash. - Investigators with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating three separate cases of thefts from a Tacoma liquor store involving minors.
"They look so young," said Pam Dudley, manager of A’s Wine, Spirits & Beer. "They have no fear. They don’t care and they don’t cover their faces."
The liquor store shared surveillance video of the thefts that occurred December 6, 12 and 15.
"Even though they have hoods on, you see their faces," said Dudley.
Each video shows two to three people entering the store. Within seconds, they separate, go down various aisles and quickly grab bottles of booze before walking out.
"They’re going for the high-end tequila," said Dudley. "When we removed it off the shelves they started taking rum."
There was at least one attempt to stop the thieves.
Store employee Kenny Reyes asked if one of the individuals needed any help.
"He just kept saying ‘yes, yes.’ I told him we’ve been experiencing thefts lately. He then just moved to another aisle and then grabbed bottles," Reyes recalled.
He even tried holding the door shut, but it was no use.
"We’re now having to explore security," said Dudley. "Every time I hear that door open we all have to look up. I think I have PTSD. We’re always on guard."
If you can identify anyone seen in the videos or have information about the crimes, call the Pierce County Sheriff's Department’s non-emergency line. That number is 253-287-4455.
