Deadly shooting scene spills into 2 Seattle neighborhoods

One person is dead and three others are recovering after a shooting scene spilled into two neighborhoods.

A man is dead, and three others people were injured in shootout at occurred at Golden Gardens near the dog park in Ballard Thursday. According to preliminary reports, investigators said this all stemmed from a stolen car.

The Seattle Police Department confirmed a shooting in the 8400 block of Seaview Place Northwest.

The medical examiner on Monday confirmed 44-year-old Victor Carlos Garcia was killed in the shooting. Seattle Fire Department (SFD) also said a 25-year-old man was shot at the park and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

"Right now, we have limited information," said Captain Lori Aagard with the Seattle Police Department (SPD). "Preliminary reports indicate the owner of a stolen car may have come here to recover the vehicle and a shootout ensued.

Aagard noted the vehicle was allegedly stolen at a separate location and that the owner followed it to the park using a GPS type monitoring system.

"Four people were shot," Aagard said. "After the shooting two people in the vehicle drove off."

Five minutes after the Golden Gardens shooting was reported, investigators said they responded to another incident at 26th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Market Street.

FOX 13’s cameras noted a dark colored Honda CR-V with multiple bullet holes in the windshield.

A witness on scene told FOX 13 they saw the SUV roll up with SPD cruisers following.

"We saw a vehicle pull up very quickly with SPD right behind them. They had guns drawn," said nearby business owner Albert Edmonds.

Crews with Seattle Fire Department said it crews treated two people there at the secondary scene for gunshot wounds. The victims were said to be a 50-year-old woman, and a 38-year-old man. They both were taken to Harborview Medical Center, according to SFD.

"I saw the passenger exit first, per police instructions," said Edmonds. "He seemed to be bleeding from the leg, from his knee. Police had him down on his hips so he wouldn’t put pressure on the wound. Then they went to the vehicle and treated the driver."

Police made it clear Thursday night that that only shooting occurred was at Golden Gardens Park.

"There is no threat to the public," said Captain Aagard.

She went on to say that everyone involved in the shootout has been accounted for.

While she wouldn’t confirm any arrests, she did say people have been detained.
