A weak weather system will move into Western Washington New Year’s Eve night, bringing a few light showers to the area.

Most of New Year’s Eve will be dry with increasing clouds and cool afternoon high temperatures in the mid 40s.

Rain showers will roll in starting around 8:00 p.m. in the South Sound and they will push north into the Seattle area by the midnight countdown.

Rain in the new year

Wednesday and Thursday will bring a few showers here and there, but it will be more dry than wet for the first two days of 2025.

Models are bringing in a stronger storm system on Friday, bringing widespread rain and breezy wind at times. Mountain snow will also be a factor over the passes Friday and Saturday.

Drier weather will return early next week.
