Strong winds in western WA leave nearly 54K without power

Tens of thousands of customers were without power in western Washington after strong winds and rain swept through the region overnight. 

There was a Wind Advisory and High Wind Warning in the Puget Sound area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with projected wind gusts of 45-50 mph. 

According to FOX 13 Meteorologist Abby Acone, the worst of the winds is over, and the wind alerts will expire at around 10 a.m.

Puget Sound Energy power outages in western WA

At around 1:30 p.m., PSE reported 239 active outages impacting about 18,736 customers. Before 9 a.m., more than 52,000 were without power.

The majority of the power outages were in the Tacoma and Puyallup areas, according to PSE.

Seattle City Light power outages

At around 1:30 p.m., Seattle City Light reported 20 active outages impacting about 335 customers. Before 9 a.m., about 1,972 customers were affected.

The majority of the power outages were in North Seattle and South Seattle.

Snohomish PUD power outages in WA

At around 1:30 p.m., Snohomish PUD reported multiple outages impacting about 2,161 customers. Before 9 a.m., the number of impacted customers was about 1,321.
