WA driver pulled over for having Christmas lights taped on car

With the holiday season underway, you may be tempted to get festive. Police are telling drivers to stop at putting lights on their vehicles, though.

A driver in Grays Harbor was pulled over this weekend with string lights taped to their car.

Trooper Katherine Weatherwax sent a post to X (formerly Twitter) reminding motorists that this is illegal. The only exception is if the car is not in motion and on private property.  

"Lights can distract other drivers which lead to collisions. Also taping lights can cause paint damage," said Washington State Patrol Trooper Weatherwax.
