Man arrested after standoff at West Seattle Safeway
Seattle police arrested a man accused of threatening a woman with a knife at a West Seattle Safeway on New Year's Day.
SEATTLE - A man was arrested after a standoff at a West Seattle Safeway on New Year's Day.
Officers were dispatched around 10:12 a.m. to the Safeway on 28th Avenue Southwest, near White Center. There were reports of a violent assault involving a female victim.
Seattle police say the suspect pulled a knife on the victim and threatened her. He appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
The suspect was located inside the Safeway, and officers say he refused to comply with their demands.
After an hours-long standoff, the suspect was arrested for assault, harassment and indecent liberties. He was treated on scene and later taken to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.
SPD says they have recovered the weapon. They expect the suspect to be booked into King County Jail.
