Leavenworth, WA park damaged before Christmas

Front Street Park in Leavenworth (City of Leavenworth)

A popular area of Downtown Leavenworth has been closed off after it was damaged over the weekend.

The city of Leavenworth posted on their Facebook page that the lawn area of Front Street Park was closed after a "property damage incident" on Saturday night.

"We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore the usability of our downtown park," the city said.

On Monday morning, the city said the Chelan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

The city's parks team will be working to restore the park.

Sunday's Chamber's Christmastown programming in the gazebo still went on as planned.
