Suspect arrested in Seattle carjacking that killed 80-year-old woman

Seattle Police have announced an arrest in a carjacking that killed an 80-year-old woman in the Madison Valley neighborhood on Tuesday.

One of those felonies was for a vehicular homicide back in 1993. Court documents show he killed a man while drunk driving in the Capitol Hill neighborhood at 50 mph.

According to official records, Haynes crossed a center line, drove onto a sidewalk, and hit two parked cars. After the fatal crash, Haynes jumped into a taxi and fled to the Youth Services Detention Center, where police later arrested him.

Haynes "drove his vehicle into the driver’s side of another occupied vehicle, effectively ejecting the driver," and killing him, court documents state. His reported blood alcohol level was .12

Crime scene investigators in hazmat suits searched Haynes' last known residence in Capitol Hill on Wednesday after his arrest.
