Fire burns train trestle in Oregon, forces evacuations

SHERWOOD, Ore. -- Video from a news helicopter showed a train trestle on fire Monday afternoon.

According to FOX 12 Oregon, crews said the train trestle was fully involved as a brush fire burned beneath it.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue was called to SW Tualatin Sherwood Road and Langer Farms Parkway shortly after 4 p.m.

Crews are battling the fire in a defensive attack because power lines in the area posed a great risk to firefighters, according to KPTV.

About 50 firefighters were at the scene.

Nearby businesses were forced to evacuate, and firefighters were staged at a nearby chemical facility in case the fire spread toward it.
