Deputies shoot 70-year-old man armed with a gun during domestic violence call
Authorities in Pierce County are investigating a police shooting that sent one person to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. - Authorities in Pierce County are investigating a police shooting that sent one person to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to reports of a domestic violence situation with a weapon involved at 1:45 p.m. in the 14900 block of 272nd Ave. E. in Buckley. After police arrived, a deputy fired at a 70-year-old man with a gun.
The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. The deputy was not hurt. It was not immediately known what led up to the domestic violence situation.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team was called to the scene to take over the investigation.
Investigators say the 70-year-old is in stable but ciritcal condition.
