800,000 people watched BuzzFeed put rubber bands around a watermelon until it exploded

Nearly a million people watched a watermelon explode. Live on Facebook.

Well... 808,000.

It's the latest Facebook Live video -- and it was 44 minutes of a man and a woman, both wearing white coats and goggles, putting one rubber band around a watermelon at a time, until it exploded.

"Hi I'm Chelsea."

"And I'm James."

"And this is our watermelon that we're going to try to explode using rubber bands."

"We're gonna eat this after. Don't worry I don't like waste."

The video was viewed more than 4 million times in about an hour and a half Friday.

You might be thinking, "This is dumb. What a waste of time!"

Well, you may want to skip ahead to the 40-minute mark and watch the last few minutes.

As the tension builds, we think you'll be on the edge of your seat asking "How many rubber bands until it breaks?!"

People on social media began questioning their choices as well.

So did we.

Could this be the future of television?

Again, in slow motion this time.
