3 dead, 1 arrested, 10 acres burned after crash in Roy



TACOMA, Wash.  — Authorities say three people were killed and three were injured in a vehicle crash involving two cars that also started a small brush fire south of Tacoma.

Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Johnna Batiste says the crash happened Monday afternoon on state Route 702 and Eighth Avenue South.

Batiste says a preliminary investigation shows a Dodge Caravan ran a stop sign and struck a Toyota Rav 4 traveling west on route 702.

Batiste says three people died, one person was in critical condition and two people were in serious condition.

She says the driver of the Dodge was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and three counts of vehicular homicide.

Batiste says the crash also started a small brush fire.
